What information does a V5C contain?

The V5C (logbook) contains:

• Registered keeper's name and address
• Vehicle identification details — make, model, colour, and VIN (chassis number)
• Registration number and date of first registration
• Engine size and fuel type
• Previous keeper information — a count of how many keepers the vehicle has had, though not always their names
• Tax class and CO2 emissions figures

It does not include finance, insurance write-off, or stolen vehicle status — none of that appears on the document itself, which is why a separate vehicle history check is needed to see it.
